As Sandy came to understand her own story of abuse, her desire to minister to those with similar stories grew into what has become Open Hearts Ministry. Sandy pioneered a small group ministry to abused women in the local church and began training other leaders to do the same. She served as OHM’s Ministry Director for 15 years, continues to serve on the Board of Directors for OHM, and assists with The Journey seminars.
Sandy and her husband, Bill, have been married over 50 years and have three married daughters, ten grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. While an avid reader and knitter who enjoys walking (and sometimes dancing) and spending time with family and friends, Sandy’s heart has always been for providing care to others. She and Bill frequently open their home to those in need of rest, providing shelter and loving community.
